All is now set for the official commencement of the construction of the “Otueke” bridge across Cross River from Afikpo, Ebonyi State.
The flag off to be performed by President Bola Tinubu will also include the 118.8 km (Phase 1) Calabar – Ebonyi – Benue – Nassarawa – Abuja superhighway.
The flag off will be performed by the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon Francis Nwifuru on behalf of the President. The Chairman Afikpo LG, NWACHI, Timothy A. U, who is overseeing the preparations for the event slated for Amuro Mgbom Primary School field on April 16, 2025.
A visit to the venue of the event in Afikpo indicates that finishing touches were being made to ensure a hitch free event. Different groups including stakeholders have been mobilised to welcome dignitaries that will also include the minister of works, Engr David Umahi and officials of the federal ministry of works.
In addition to setting up committees on works, publicity/protocol, contact, mobilisation, etc, the Afikpo LG had also visited the traditional council of Afikpo to inform the excited people of the ceremony.
The EBSG is also not leaving anything to chance as it has also placed announcements on different media channels welcoming the guests as well as enjoining Ebonyians to troupe out in their numbers as a mark of solidarity for the government and project.
The Chairman, Nwachi had been visiting the venue on a daily basis in order not to leave anything to chance.
The Chairman of the works committee and former chairman of the LG, Pharm. Tony Ekoh described the event as a significant milestone which has endeared the government to the people of Afikpo and Ebonyi State.
