NBA Calabar Branch Collaborates To Strengthen Legal Processes With Council

The Executive Chairman of Calabar South Local Government Council, Pastor Hon. Patrick Okon Archibong, received members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Calabar Branch, led by their Chairman, Mr. Enome J. Amatey, on a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening legal collaboration with the Council.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Amatey began by congratulating Pastor Archibong on his recent Award of Excellence for Security Consciousness presented by the International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS), describing the recognition as a testament to his visionary leadership and commitment to good governance.

He explained that the visit was primarily to synergize with the council by facilitating the posting of a legal practitioner to the Council’s litigation unit, ensuring that the council’s legal processes are adequately supported. The NBA chairman further appealed for the renovation of the two courts in Calabar South, noting that such an intervention would enhance the administration of justice at the grassroots level.

Mr. Amatey also expressed the Association’s readiness to collaborate and advocate on silent but pressing legal and social issues affecting residents, reaffirming the NBA’s commitment to promoting justice and good governance across all strata.

In his response, Chairman Archibong appreciated the NBA’s visit and described their proposal as a welcome idea. He encouraged the association to formally channel their request to the Deputy Governor’s office via the Commissioner for Local Government Service Commission for necessary administrative consideration.

The Chairman also assured the delegation that the renovation of the two courts would be included in the Council’s upcoming budgetary plan and directed the Director of Works to assess the state of the court buildings immediately.

Present at the meeting were the Council Secretary, Chief Nathaniel Ikpeme; Director General of Services and Administration (DGSA), Barr. Eyo Okor; Director of Finance and Supplies (DFS), Mr. Ignatius Ekpo; Special Adviser on Peace and Security, Mr. Patrick Okon; and the Supervisor for Education, Mr. Lawrence Inyang.

The visit ended on a note of mutual respect and shared commitment to deepening institutional collaboration for the overall benefit of Calabar South and her people.
