Senator Bassey Edet Otu, governor of cross River State, has tasked religious leaders to work together in building a sustainable foundation for societal growth. Gov Otu who gave the charge at the 45th knight of Mulumba supreme council conversation holding in Calabar, noted that the foundation for societal growth starts from the family and the church in partnership with state. He emphasized that government at all levels owe it as a duty to harp on societal values for the sustenance of the future.
The governor who was represented at the occasion by the secretary to the state government, Prof Anthony Owan Enoh ,commended the KSM order for the choice of the convention’s theme * Deepening christian spirituality and family values roles and challenges, pointing out that it aligns with the philosophy of his administration’s *people first mantra*.
In an interactive session with the media, the Worthy Supreme Knight Sir Dr Charles Mbelede, thanked the press for not relenting in it’s efforts at setting agenda for national growth and development. Sir Mbelede stated that as an order, the KSM is in sinc with the dictum that the press remains the back bone of democratic governance, adding that the order has consistently utilized the opportunities provided by it annual conventions to expoused views and opinions that suggests pragmatic solutions to problems and challenges facing the nation.
He listed the Orders achievements to include the provision of a N10 million naira solar lighting project at their headquarters in Anambra state, as well as attracting a foreign grant of N20 million dollars from KIND ONE INITiATIVE in the United States of America, for investment in articulated borehole projects in Ogun, Benue, Anambra and Rivers states. He noted with delight that such gesture has greatly cushioned the effect of levies and donations on the shoulders of members who are always expected to contribute toward the successful execution of any charity project muted for prosecution by the order.
