Christmas Rice And The Entrenchment Of Poverty

Opinion • 12/27/2025

The mammoth crowds seen in the houses of members of the National Assembly and appointees is not to be mistaken for their popularity, it is an emblem of poverty. The system has entrenched poverty throughout the country. Ninety-nine percent of so- called politicians are very poor people who have to wait for the One percent of senators , MPs, state-based legislators and even councillors to give them rice and tomatoes for Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, these are not lazy people. They have been trapped in the snare of politics, wasting their productive years singing songs of loyalty for food.

The system has prioritized elite enrichment above any genuine attempt to remove the people from poverty, like China did and is still doing. No systemic initiatives. No grants. No loans. Not even the banks will give them loans without solid security. It’s all pointing to a violent future for us all, because one day go be one day. Unless something deliberate is done to help strengthen the people and save them from the shame of trying to pull down the gate to a senator’s house just so they can grab a small bag of rice for Christmas. Normally life no suppose hard like this na!
