Ganduje Lauds Gov Otu’s Infrastructure Drive, And Commitment To Good Governance

Former governor of Kano State and Chairman of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje has lauded Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, for what he described as his commitment to good governance and infrastructure development in the state.

Ganduje gave the commendation during a state banquet organised in his honour by the Cross River State Government.

The FAAN Chairman, who was in the state on a facility tour, said his years of public service had exposed him to different approaches to governance, noting that some places were better governed than others.

He particularly praised the Otu administration for promoting democratic governance and creating an environment where citizens could engage with government and seek solutions to their concerns without unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.
“I have always had a high regard for the Governor. The duty of government is not to divide the people, but to serve them, and this the administration of Governor Bassey Otu is doing, and doing very well,” Ganduje said.

He stressed the importance of cooperation among government, political parties, institutions and citizens in promoting good governance and strengthening democracy.

Ganduje also lauded the state government’s infrastructure drive, particularly its road construction projects. He said Cross River had remained a leading light in infrastructure development among the comity of states, adding that the State had maintained its cleanest status despite its growing population.

According to him, infrastructure development must take local environmental conditions into consideration to ensure that public investments remained sustainable and continued to benefit communities. He pledged the Board’s support to the State in advancing the aviation sector.

Earlier, Governor Otu commended Ganduje for his long years of service and wealth of experience in public administration, politics and party management.

Otu said effective party management required experience, perseverance and the ability to accommodate different interests and tendencies, qualities he said Ganduje had demonstrated over the years.

The Governor also highlighted the state’s growing development prospects, saying Cross River was preparing to host major international engagements, including an African conference expected to attract more than 900 participants, including heads of state and other high-ranking officials.

He said the expected influx of visitors would require adequate preparations in security, airport facilities, transportation and other critical infrastructure.
“Security is very, very important,” Otu stressed, calling for effective measures to protect lives and property and ensure that residents and visitors feel safe.

Otu expressed gratitude to Ganduje for visiting the state, describing the engagement as an opportunity to discuss development, investment and broader cooperation.
