Gov Otu Celebrates Donald Duke at 65, Hails His Enduring Legacy

Cross River State governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has poured encomiums on former Governor Donald Duke, on the occasion of his 65th birthday, describing the milestone as an opportunity to celebrate a life distinguished by public service, vision and commitment to the advancement of Cross River State and Nigeria.

In a goodwill message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity and Chief Press Secretary, Mr Linus Obogo, to mark Duke’s birthday, Governor Otu, on behalf of the Government and the good people of Cross River State, warmly congratulated the former governor, while acknowledging his contributions to the development and visibility of the state.

Otu said the 65th anniversary offered “a fitting moment to honour a life distinguished by public service, vision and an abiding commitment to the advancement of Cross River State and Nigeria.”

The governor noted that Duke’s years in office constituted “a significant chapter in the history of our State,” adding that his administration was defined by “purposeful leadership, innovative thinking and a determination to position Cross River for greater visibility and prosperity.”

According to Otu, Duke’s contributions transcended the period of his administration, with aspects of his developmental vision continuing to form part of the state’s institutional and historical narrative.
“Your contributions to our state’s development continue to form part of its enduring story,” Otu said, underscoring the importance of recognising the contributions of those who have served the state at different periods of its evolution.

The governor further wished the former governor continued strength, wisdom, peace and fulfilment, praying that his years ahead would be “blessed with good health and renewed opportunities to contribute to the progress and unity of our State and nation.”
“Happy 65th birthday, Your Excellency,” Otu declared, as he joined family, friends and well-wishers across Cross River and beyond in celebrating Duke’s milestone and wishing him many more years of impactful service and personal fulfilment.
