**As council chairman sues for peace and team work
By Lawrence Mpama

University of Calabar Chapel of Redemption (UCOR) on Sunday inaugurated its seventh council following the church’s election that took place on Feb. 23.
Inaugurating the new council headed by Prof. Essien David Oku during the church service, the Chaplain, Rev. Dr. Joseph Ushie, called on the new leaders to adhere to the instructions of apostle Paul in the text 1 Timothy 3:15.
It would be recalled that after the election that brought in prof Oku, some members of the church in support of the former council executive led by Prof. Paul Ajah had alleged foul play in the election which was attended by church members and seen to be free, fair and credible.
According to Rev. Ushie, the new council must lead like David who is a model for leaders because of his humility, fear of God and not like Saul the first king of Israel who challenged the priesthood in his days as king.
Rev asserted that, “You have to be mindful of your relationship with your ordained men of God because they are the representative of God in your midst.
“As a new council, I urge you to do the will of God not your own will, no matter how beautiful it looks or sounds to you because the church is God’s property not your personal property, he stated.
In his post inauguration speech, the newly inaugurated Council chairman commended the chaplain, the electoral body that brought him and his team to office and the out gone church council.
He requested for inputs from members of the church, noting that he would sit with his Council members as a team, look at the inputs and come up with a definite action plan which will be presented to the congregation.
Prof Oku appeal to all members of UCOR to sheath their swords and work together to restore peace, unity and love among the congregants.
